Our next CPD seminar will be
held on
Thursday 14 May 2009
and is on
Fraud in an Insurance and
Commercial Context.
Jeffrey Terry (Kings Chambers) will open with a talk covering commercial fraud generally (with some particular aspects of relevance to insurance fraud) and he will be followed by Roger Bescoby (Mike India 5 Ltd) with a talk about surveillance activities and covert observation "on the ground" and in infiltration scenarios. Roger’s remit covers insurance fraud, but also employment (absence management), commercial fraud and copyright. He will explain the effect of privacy laws on operations, and discuss new technological advances - with video footage of his successes!
The seminar will be held at the Radisson Edwardian Manchester, commencing 6.00pm (with registration from 5.30pm).

June Talks
Our June CPD seminar on Thursday
11 June 2009 is on Sports Law, and will be presented by David
Casement QC and Mark Harper. This will be held at Kings Chambers,
commencing
6.00pm
(with registration from 5.30pm), and will be followed by a Drinks Reception.
On Thursday 25 June 2009 we will be hosting the next event in our New Practitioners’ Programme. HHJ David Waksman QC and Mark Cawson QC will be talking on Applications to the Judge, Case Management, Applications Day, Applications by Order and Interim Injunctions. This will provide a practical and detailed introduction to the work of the Mercantile Court. This will be held at the Radisson Edwardian Manchester, starting at 6.00pm (with registration from 5.30).
Each of these events will carry 1 ½ hours CPD.
Northern Chancery Bar Association
Company Seminar
Members who are also members of the NCBA are reminded about the NCBA Company Law
Conference to be held on Saturday 9 May 2009 at the Manchester
Civil Justice Centre. This is the NCBA’s first annual conference, and the guest
speakers include the Vice-Chancellor, Mr Justice David Richards, Professor David
Milman and Professor Graham Virgo.
