Welcome to the Northern Circuit Commercial Bar Association

The NCCBA was established in 1996 under the chairmanship of Giles Wingate-Saul QC. Its aim was, and remains, to promote the work of commercial practitioners on the Northern Circuit. In a foreword to a previous directory of members, Mr Justice Leveson (as he then was) noted that, “This Directory is an indispensable tool for all involved in commercial life in the North of England; it should also tempt others. All will find a sensible, no nonsense approach to a wide range of legal problems together with a willingness to go that bit further in an effort to assist. The Association brings credit to the Circuit and its prosperity is well deserved.”

The prosperity of the NCCBA has grown even stronger in recent years. 2009 saw the launch of a comprehensive programme of seminars, open to all members and solicitors, seeking to reflect the range of professional life in commercial practice and drawing upon the expertise of the judiciary, the Bar, solicitors and other professionals. Our New Practitioner Course has been a runaway success, focusing upon barristers under three years call and young solicitors. This website also promises to provide an electronic resource for information and news about the association and commercial law.

The strength of the NCCBA is also a measure of the strength of commercial law in Manchester. The high quality of practitioners on both sides of the
profession, the judiciary and court resources, mean that there will rarely be a reason for any case with a link to the Northern Circuit to be dealt with
anywhere else.
